Armed with this secret recipe, Albert sought a way to capture this – the flavor, the grill marks, the sauce – in a more convenient form so that anyone can enjoy a delicious, “real” meat snack anytime. Along the way, Albert found partners that could help scale up production by inventing new processes and specialized equipment to finally realize his vision. His product has been sold internationally in major groceries, ethnic groceries, and many online platforms and many private label brands quickly followed. Building on the amazing “Oriental Recipe” (ORM comes from Orien tal Recipe Manufacturing, Inc.), we realized that the world has so many more delicious seasonings and flavors that can be packaged the same way for the world to enjoy. So many amazing artisanal sauces are trapped in bottles – when they really should be cooked and packaged with the food they were intended to be served with.
ORM Foods was founded in 2016 when one of the founders, Albert Lee, was taught by a Singapore-based master chef “si-fu” on how to make traditional, Asian, jerky. This meat snack is made with carefully chopped meats which is then marinaded, fire-grilled, and glazed with a sweet and savory sauce. In Asia, this delicious street food is often made and sold by local, family-owned food stalls prepared and cooked on site and served warm to passersby.
